Green-Blue, Opaque

Cerulean Blue has been selected as our principal green-blue because of its versatility. It is opaque and handles very well. It will give bright greens with our Hansa Yellow (although not as bright as with Phthalocyanine Blue) and opaque mid greens with Cadmium Yellow Light. It is absolutely lightfast.

Specifications
  • Absolutely lightfast, it gained an ASTM rating of 1 (excellent) in all of our media during lightfast testing. A most reliable pigment with many useful qualities. The chemical make up of Cerulean Blue varies from oxides of Cobalt and Tin (Cerulean Blue PB 35) to Oxides of Cobalt and Chromium. Generally (PB36).

  • Both PB 35 and PB 36 are similar in hue, being blues with a definite bias towards green. Being particularly opaque it has very good covering power. This can be very useful when areas of work have to be covered by a relatively thin layer of paint. Non-metallic preservatives.

  • There are many imitations on the market which are simply mixes of cheaper pigments. It pays to look for the description PB 35 or PB 36.
